Political Profiling: Missionary Toolbox #6

Did you know that people often establish church governments that reflect their own culture's political system? For more indepth discussion about ecclesiological polity, read another article here. For the missionary or church planter trying to understand his people group, the following questions are helpful:

1. Describe your people group's political system: capitalistic, socialistic, communist, etc.

2. Is there a difference between the national and local political system?

3. How does your people group relate politically to other people groups?

4. How does your people group view larger political systems like European Union, USA, Russia, or China?

5. Does politics play a major role in everyday life of the average citizen?

6. Are political leaders chosen, do they inherit their position, or how else do they gain power?

7. How long has the current political system been in place?

8. What value does the current political leader bring to their society?

9. How important or expected is honesty and integrity in their leadership?

10. How does the people group define justice? How do they implement it?

11. Describe some stories of political heroism among your people group.

12. What implications does this have for starting new groups in your community?
