The Gospel of Deuteronomy: Can you really trust God’s Promises?
Deut 4:15-31
Introduction:
Definition of Promise: a declaration or assurance that one will do a
particular thing or that a particular thing will happen.
Promise Keepers: The core beliefs of the Promise Keepers, outlined in the Seven
Promises, consist of the following:
1.
worship, prayer and obedience to God's Word
2.
pursuing vital relationships with a few other
men,
3. spiritual,
moral, ethical and sexual purity.
4.
strong marriages Biblical values.
5.
church by honoring and praying
for his pastor and by actively giving his time and resources.
6.
racial and denominational barriers
A Good Promise = Intention + Commitment + Ability

Promised
Allotment to Meet Universal Physical Needs (15-20)

the Lord has allotted the cosmos to all peoples.

Inheritance of Spiritual Rest (21-22)

the good land which the Lord your God is giving
you as an inheritance (21)

Heb 4:9-11- There remains a rest…

Eph 1:13-14- sealed with a deposit of guarantee
III.
Promised
Covenant of Identity (23-28)
·
Idols- Warning (Jealous God ) 23
·
the covenant of the Lord your God which He made
with you- He initiated- repercussions for idolatry (substitution for God)
·
Gal 1:6-9- a substitution for the Gospel
IV.
Promised
Revelation for Guidance and Relationship (29-31)
·
in the latter days you will return to the Lord
your God and listen to His voice (30)
·
He swore to them (31)
·
Gen 22:16; Heb 6:13 – He swore by Himself.
