Generosity and Revival

Two words that are probably the least understood yet most crucial to the life of a growing church are “generosity” and “revival”. By implication, both involve an attitude of reaching beyond ourselves and moving toward something that is bigger than the status quo. Although I am so proud of our Georgia Baptist churches, I believe we still need to catch a renewed vision for giving to local, national and international missions through the Cooperative Program and beyond. Now more than ever, ministries need our support. Missionaries still need to be sent. People are still hungry and naked. Churches still need to be started. We have to stay aware of that.
To raise this awareness, the GBC is hosting a great event for pastors of Georgia Baptist churches. We have partnered with GBC President Dan Spencer to bring together Dr. Ken Hemphill, Dr. Robert White, and others to encourage and raise the consciousness of meeting the need through local churches. Biblical generosity and biblical revival will only start in Christian families and in the local church.
The meeting will be inspirational, informational and a rare opportunity to bring our state together. Dan has said, “We live in a day of unprecedented spiritual darkness. The need to penetrate that darkness with the light of Christ has never been greater.”
The gatherings are called the President's Generosity Summit. This meal and time of worship is an opportunity to join other pastors and church leaders in a statewide movement of God in Biblical generosity. This is based on our urgent need for revival in our churches and the desperate need of reaching the lost of our state through giving toward Georgia Baptist missions.

This Summit will be the kick-off of a state-wide stewardship initiative based on obedience to God's Word, driven by God's Spirit, and utilizing the best resources available. Now is the time to join our hearts and respond to the Lord's desire to send a great revival.

We are asking pastors and church leaders to choose one of three locations to attend the special evening (6:30-8:30pm):
Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cartersville on Monday, August 15, 2011
Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins on Tuesday, August 16, 2011
Morningside Baptist Church in Valdosta on Thursday, August 18, 2011

To register for your desired location, GBC pastors can go to www.gabaptist.org/summit or call 800 RING GBC (800-746-4422), ext. 296.
