SERMON NOTES (Jan 24, 2016): PROVISION- Pt 1 of 3 Series- Transitions: Discovering the Generosity Factor

Transitions: Discovering the Generosity Factor
PROVISION – Lev 25:23-28; Ruth 1:16, 2:20

Story of Ruth, Naomi, Boaz- A Proper Understanding of Provision is Better.
Truth #1: Ruth accepted the One True God, which meant accepting His will and plan.
Truth #2: Ruth experienced Provision according to that Law which she accepted.

I.                    Principle of OWNERSHIP
EXP.  “the Land is mine” Lev 25:23 (Lordship) – What belongs to the Lord? Teaching on TITHING
Action Point: If we say we accept Jesus as our Lord, then He owns 100% of our passion, our time, and our stuff. We acknowledge this Lordship over ALL through covenant giving to a local body of Christ by way of tithing. (Lordship)

II.                  Principle of TRANSIENCE
EXP.  “sojourners with me” Lev 25:23 (Discipleship) Where do you belong?
CF. 1 Tim 5:8
CF. 1 Tim 6:6-10
Action Point: Following Jesus means adopting an attitude of transience in this life - deny self, Son of Man no place to lay head; therefore, money takes on a different meaning.

     III.                    Principle of TEMPORARINESS
EXP. “calculate the years” Lev 25:27 (Stewardship) How Long?
Action Point: A life of discipleship means making decisions about the way we spend money. Spend-Save-Invest-Give. Recognize what is temporary & make decisions based on value over time.

IV.                  Principle of PROVISION
EXP. “Year of Jubilee” Lev 25:28 (Eschatology) When?
Action Point: We look forward to and witness about a coming day of Jubilee when all will be restored to its original intent- New Heaven & New Earth (Eschatology)

Conclusion: Are you living your life financially in obedient discipleship that reflects your true faith in the coming Lord Jesus?
