SERMON NOTES (Nov 29, 2015): Forgiver: Outbless, Outthank, Outgive - Matt 26:26-29

Forgiver: Outbless, Outthank, Outgive
Matt 26:26-29
I.                    OutBless - (eulogasas) Eulogy (vs. 26)

Signifies the Goodness of salvation
Rom 3:10-12 as it is written,
“There is none righteous, not even one; There is none who understands, There is none who seeks for God; All have turned aside, together they have become useless; There is none who does good, There is not even one.”

II.                  OutThank- (eucharistasas) Eucharist (vs. 27)

Signifies the Grace of salvation
Eph 2:8a For by grace you have been saved through faith; and [a]that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

III.                OutGive - (edoken) Extending (vs. 26-27)

Signifies the Gift of salvation; it is not earned or deserved.
Eph 2:8b For by grace you have been saved through faith; and [a]that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

IV.                Sin Remission: Forgiveness (vs. 28)

Today, as we participate in the Lord’s Supper, the bread and the fruit of the vine, we must understand that we freely receive Jesus’ holiness in salvation, given by grace alone through faith alone. No act or effort on our part makes us worthy, but His free gift makes us forgiven.
